Subclassification

The internal classification of West Pantar is as follows:

West Pantar

Lamma

Mauta-Tubbe

Tubbe

Mauta

Both Stokhof (1975: 9, 10) and Holton (CITE) present the three dialects as coequal, but an inspection of the available materials makes it clear that Mauta and Tubbe are more similar to one another than either is to Lamma, which might be considered a different though very closely related language.
